After working in the commercial and high end residential interior design world for 2 years, Sarah Wiegand has come to Boise Lighting to share her vast knowledge of integrated design and lighting. Sarah believes in the importance of great lighting design on every project regardless of budget. Every space is uniquely different and therefore requires personal and individual attention to detail.

Sarah works with all of her clients to develop original lighting plans that accentuate the building design and the related function of the space. Sarah's expertise is a unique offering by Alloway Lighting to our valued customers. Integrated design is something she strongly believes in. She looks at everything from an overall design perspective instead of just looking at one small portion. Concerned with how to show off the unique architectural details or that beautiful piece of one-of-a-kind art, Sarah bases the lighting design on the overall design of the space addressing the end-users functional and task needs as well as aesthetics.

Having worked extensively with consultants, Sarah is able to communicate on a professional level and work with contractors, electrical engineers, electricians, architects, designers, etc. The best and most successful project is one where the lighting consultant is brought in at the very beginning before any wiring or final decisions have been made. Sarah is proficient at reading and producing construction documents and has on many projects been the sole lighting consultant.

New home budgeting guidelines:
Budgeting for lighting on a new construction project can be difficult. It has been our experience that lighting tends to be an after-thought by home-owners and builders alike. When planning for your project, this is a good rule of thumb for budgeting:

Builder-grade 1% of overall cost of home

Mid-level 1.5% of overall cost of home

High-end 2 - 4% of overall cost of home
